THE "KONOMONDO" PROJECT

Math becomes an adventure!

edventure Studios is fully dedicated to the topic of modern teaching. Supported by grants from the Austria Wirtschaftsservice (AWS) and the Vienna Business Agency (WAW), we use the revenue from our tutoring services to finance not only our operating costs but also the development of the online math role-playing game Konomondo. In the future, this story-based mobile game will guide students through the exciting world of mathematics while providing individualized support.

OER Game Jams

A "Game Jam" for open learning content

We combine Open Educational Resources (OER) and Game Jams to develop open educational games alongside motivated game developers, artists, and teachers. Our stated goal is to help young people learn difficult concepts in STEM subjects. The open-source nature of the games makes it possible to further develop and adapt them at any time.

Unite Math

How do we teach math in Europe?

The European project “How do we teach math in Europe?” examines how universities can better support students in their transition from high school to STEM degree programs. The focus was on common challenges such as varying levels of prior mathematical knowledge, math anxiety, the use of digital tools, and the development of self-directed learning strategies. Through international workshops, classroom observations, and exchanges among faculty, students, and education experts, a practical network for innovative mathematics education was established. Key outcomes include four workshop reports, a teaching toolkit featuring transferable best-practice approaches, and the further development of the open Fit4Math MOOC, which is designed to help first-year students across Europe build important mathematical foundations in the future.

Math Anxiety Research

Afraid of math?

With the project "How do we teach math in Europe?", we are collaborating with European partner universities within the Unite! network (University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering) to research the effects of math anxiety and what can be done about it. To achieve this, we are looking at best-practice examples from university teaching and rolling them out across Europe.

Konzept BreakOut-Math
"BreakOut Math" Project

Affordable online tutoring with added value

BreakOut Math is an innovative online tutoring format for students aged 14 to 20 that combines learning mathematics with cooperative gameplay. In virtual escape rooms, groups of three to five teenagers work together on mathematical challenges—guided by qualified tutors and supported by a dedicated Quiz App for individual reinforcement.
